Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
AccountabilityPartner ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
- Account information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID, email address (which may be a relay address), and optional name. We store a display name you provide.
- Goals and check-ins: Goal titles, descriptions, categories, progress percentages, and notes you enter.
- Nudge events: When you exceed your screen time limit, we record the event timestamp, which app category triggered it, your chosen action (closed or stayed), and any reason you provide.
- Circle membership: Which accountability circles you belong to and your display name within them.
- Messages between members: When you nudge a circle-mate about goals that are falling behind, we store who it was sent to, which goals it was about, and the message you wrote. When you wave at someone, we store that you waved. Praise you give (an emoji and an optional note) is stored with the activity it's about. When you respond to a circle-mate's unlock, we store the emoji you chose and any note you wrote.
- Reports and blocks: If you report something, we store who you reported, the item, the reason and any details you add, so we can review it. If you block someone, we store that block so their activity is hidden from you and they can't reach you. The person you report or block is not told.
- Agreement to the terms: When you agree to our Terms of Use & Community Guidelines, we store the date you agreed.
- Time zone and notifications: Your device's time zone, so days, reminders, and alerts follow your local day; and your device's push notification token with an app-generated device identifier, so notifications reach your devices.
- AI features (only if you allow them): AI is off until you agree — the app asks the first time you use it, and you can turn it off any time in Settings → AI suggestions. With it on: breaking a goal into steps sends that goal's title and description, and AI-written reminder lines send the name of the goal you're furthest behind on, its progress, your streak, how many days in a row you've missed, and whether you've checked in today. These go through our server to an AI provider to generate the suggestion (see Section 4). Your account details, circle data, and Screen Time events are never sent. The AI goal coach (a chat) is not available in the current version.
- Diagnostics: If the app crashes or runs slowly, we receive a crash report or performance measurement (device model, OS version, app version, the screen involved, and an anonymous installation identifier) so we can fix it. These are not linked to your account.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect or access the content of your apps, messages, photos, or browsing history.
- Screen Time monitoring is handled entirely by Apple's FamilyControls framework. We never see which specific apps you use or what you do inside them. We only know when a time limit you set is exceeded.
- We do not use advertising trackers or track you across other apps and websites. The only third-party SDK in the app is Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring, used solely for crash and performance diagnostics (see Section 4).
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide the core app functionality: goal tracking, nudge notifications, and circle activity sharing.
- To display your progress to accountability circle members you have voluntarily joined.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports (within 24 hours), removing content that breaks our guidelines, and enforcing blocks.
- To power the AI goal coach feature if enabled in a future update (only with your explicit consent). This feature is not active in the current version.
4. Third-Party Services
We share data with the services below only as needed to run the app. Each is bound by its own privacy terms and provides the same or equal protection of your data as described in this policy; none may use it for advertising or for any purpose other than providing its service to us.
Supabase: We use Supabase for authentication and database storage. Your data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure. Supabase Privacy Policy.
AI providers (only with your permission): AI features (goal breakdown, tone-matched reminder lines) send the goal text described in Section 1 through our secure server to Google's Gemini API and, if that request fails, to Anthropic's Claude API, solely to generate the suggestion shown to you. We never send your account details, check-ins, circle data, or Screen Time events, and we do not use your text to train any system of our own. Each provider processes the request under its own terms: Google Privacy Policy, Anthropic Privacy Policy. The AI goal coach (chat) is not available in the current version; this policy will be updated before it ships.
Firebase (Google): We use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring to receive crash reports and app performance diagnostics (device model, OS version, app version, the screen or network request involved, and an anonymous installation identifier). This data is not linked to your account and is not used for advertising. Firebase Privacy and Security.
Apple: Sign in with Apple, Screen Time, and push notifications are provided by Apple. Apple Privacy Policy.
5. Data Sharing Within Circles
When you join an accountability circle, the following is visible to other circle members:
- Your display name
- The goals you share with that circle: titles, progress, and whether they're on track or have fallen behind (circle-mates may get a reminder to reach out when a shared goal falls behind)
- Your check-ins, streaks, completed periods, and challenge standings in that circle
- When you go past your Screen Time limit and unlock (not which specific app), when you lock your apps again, and the reason you give if you choose to stay
- Praise and reactions on activity, and the emoji you choose when responding to someone's unlock
Some things stay between two people: a nudge (and its message) is visible only to you and the person it was sent to; a wave only to the two of you; a praise note only to the person praised; and a note you add when responding to an unlock only to you and the person who unlocked. Goals you don't share with a circle are visible only to you.
You can leave a circle at any time to stop sharing, and block anyone so they no longer see or reach you.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, goals, check-ins, nudge history, messages to circle-mates, responses, blocks, and circle memberships, and - if you signed in with Apple - revokes the app's access to your Apple ID. Reports you made are deleted with your account. Account deletion is irreversible. Crash and performance diagnostics are anonymous, are not tied to your account, and are retained by Firebase for up to 90 days.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), Row Level Security policies on our database, and server-side API key management. Authentication is handled through Apple's secure Sign in with Apple service.
8. Children's Privacy
AccountabilityPartner is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data (visible within the app)
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Turn AI features off at any time (Settings → AI suggestions) — nothing is sent to an AI provider while they're off
- Leave accountability circles
- Report content and block other members
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
